Domestic investors want to sell wind power at 17 cents per kwh
A Ministry of Industry and Trade’s (MOIT) report showed that 50 windpower projects have been registered over the last three years with the total designed capacity of 4,876 MW. However, only three wind power plants are operational, Binh Thuan, Phu Quy and Bac Lieu. The high investment rate and the low selling price cannot persuade investors to inject money into the sector. It is estimated that a wind power plant using US or European technologies which can satisfy IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards would have an initial cost of $2,250 per kw and production cost of 10.68 cent per kwh.
